What I do

Kate is the evening anchor at the CBS affiliate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She anchors the 5, 9, and 10 p.m. shows every weekday. She also puts together stories that air during the evening shows and on the Sunday morning program.

Experience

Kate spent three years in South Bend, Indiana, as an early morning anchor and reporter. In 2015, Kate moved to her home state of Wisconsin for a morning anchor position. After a year and a half, she was promoted to the evening shift.

Field Reporting

I still get that rush when I’m reporting live. Whether it’s breaking news, the weather or a fun and interactive story, I think live broadcasting makes news- especially the morning show- so dynamic. It adds an element to the viewer you don’t get anywhere else. People watch the news to stay informed and know what’s going on, and what better way to give them that than with a live report? In studio, I do my best to incorporate social media, touchscreen technology and candid conversations into each report to keep my stories fresh, accurate and interactive. Anchoring

The ability to tell a story is what sets people in the news business apart. On the desk, anchors are expected to treat every story- long or short, video or sound- as its own entity. Each and every “read” should bring facts and emotion when necessary. I try to embody that standard when I’m on the desk. I love to be able to bring the viewer stories about his or her community, provide them accurate information about what’s happening where they live, and be able to connect with them personally on social media. I take every chance I can to bring their thoughts and questions into the newscast. Click HERE to see my anchoring demo reel.
